Endowed Center $5,000,000
Endowed Program $3,000,000
Endowment funds are crucial to helping support educational centers and programs in the college.
Presently, the college has plans to secure donors to endow centers and programs focused on the
following research and disciplines: Financial Investments, International Business, Healthcare
Management, Entrepreneurship and Family Business, Energy Commerce program, and the MD/MBA
program.
Endowed Chair $1,000,000
This is one of the most prestigious endowments at any college. The income from the endowment is spent
to supplement the chair holder's salary, as well as provide additional income for special purposes that
complement the particular professor's work. The endowment can also help provide funds for a professor
to hire graduate students to assist in research projects. Funds could also be used to purchase special
research equipment not available through the annual budget. If the chair is for research, income could
be utilized for that purpose as well. The chair would last in perpetuity and always supply income to
the designated college or program.
Endowed Professorship - $500,000
This endowment is a smaller version of the Endowed Chair. It is a wonderful method to reward junior
faculty who are doing an outstanding job of teaching in their particular field. The income from this
endowment would be utilized more frequently in the supplementation of salaries and less frequently for
the other purposes available through an Endowed Chair.
Endowed Lectureship $200,000
This endowment provides funds in perpetuity to offset expenses incurred in bringing distinguished
lecturers in a particular field to the college to speak to students and faculty.
Research Endowment $100,000
These funds will be named after the donor and will be used to support research in particular academic
areas and on topics of research specified by the donor, agreed upon by the respective academic dean and
the university provost.
Graduate Fellowships $100,000
Endowed Graduate Fellowships will provide stipends to help attract top quality graduate students to
study at the Rawls College. These stipends may be awarded in addition to other assistantships and
scholarships the student may have won. The college hopes to attract the brightest and most qualified
for our graduate degree programs.
Presidential Endowed Scholarships $100,000
Presidential Endowed Scholarships for undergraduate study are awarded to outstanding entering freshmen
on the basis of academic achievement, leadership and community activities. Academic achievement is to
be measured initially by the ACT or the SAT scores (current minimums are an ACT score of at least 32 or
a SAT score of at least 1400) or by qualification as a National Merit finalist, and by maintaining a
B+ or higher average during the junior and senior years of high school.
Honors Endowed Scholarships $50,000
Honors Endowed Scholarships are awarded to outstanding entering freshmen that are just below the level
of Presidential Scholars. The scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic achievement, leadership
and community activities. Academic achievement is to be measured initially by the SAT scores (current
minimum of 1280). The recipient must be a member of the Texas Tech University Honors Program.
Experience shows that these students possess the work ethic and the potential to succeed in their
chosen fields.
University Endowed Scholarships $25,000
University Endowed Scholarships are also awarded to outstanding entering freshmen that are just below
the level of Honors Scholars. The scholarships are awarded to students with SAT scores above 1100. The
scholarships, while small in dollar amount, could have a major influence in convincing a potential
student to attend Texas Tech and could enable a student to remain in school instead of dropping out
in order to work.
Unrestricted Endowments $10,000 or more
These endowments can be established for scholarships or to provide annual support for a program.
These types of endowments are extremely valuable in meeting the needs of the college.
